Ellen’s construction is glued lapstrake using West System epoxy and Shelman 6mm marine plywood with Honduras mahogany and white oak for structural members.

Thwarts and seats are cedar and the sprit or gunter rig spars are sitka spruce. Fittings are bronze.

The interior and topside paint colors are the owner’s choice while the balance of the trim, thwarts, seats, tiller and spars are varnished. The western red cedar floorboards are oiled.

The Ellen comes complete with a sprit sail, spar bag, kick-up (pivoting) rudder with hiking stick, daggerboard, daggerboard plug, adjustable/removable thwart, removable mast partner, U-shaped stern seat, bow seat, full length floorboards, bronze drain plug, rowing positions for 1 or 2 rowers, adjustable footrest, bronze bow ring and bow painter, brass rub rails on the stem, keel and skeg and one pair of 7 ½’ Shaw & Tenny spruce oars. A Trailex aluminum trailer is available at additional cost.
